Message from the Head of the Office

Our department is a newly formed department which branched off from cardiovascular surgery in Saitama Medical Center, Dokkyo Medical University in April 2018.
Our department regularly performs minimally invasive thoracic surgery to mainly patients with lung cancer and mediastinal tumors. From June 2018, we started performing complete video-assisted thoracic surgery (CVATS) for lung cancer lobectomy. From June 2019, we started carrying out robot-assisted thoracic surgery (da Vinci surgery, RATS) for lung cancer surgery. From June 2020, we started undertaking uniport video-assisted thoracic surgery (UVATS) as another minimally invasive thoracic surgery that has been recently established. Our department performs more than 250 thoracic surgeries in a year.
Our multidisciplinary team provide safe and excellent surgical treatment with advanced medical equipment.
