Head of the Department: Tomozumi Takatani MD, PhD
Our mission is to promote the health and well-being of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, young adults, and their families through exceptional clinical care, innovative research, and dedicated education. We take this responsibility seriously, as children represent the future of our world. With sincerity and compassion, our pediatric team is committed to providing the highest standard of care to safeguard that future.
Clinical Activities
Pediatricians take a comprehensive view of healthcare, providing care across all developmental stages—from the fetal and neonatal periods through infancy, childhood, and adolescence, and into young adulthood. Their role extends beyond treating disease to include the promotion of healthy growth and development.
At our hospital, pediatric outpatient services are provided by general pediatricians and subspecialists in a wide range of fields, including allergy, rheumatology, immunology, neurology, child psychiatry, endocrinology, metabolism, cardiology, nephrology, gastroenterology, and hepatology.
We maintain 42 inpatient beds dedicated to pediatric care, and our emergency department provides 24-hour pediatric services. Inpatient care is delivered by teams led by attending physicians, who hold daily conferences. Weekly teaching rounds are conducted by the department professor. All medical care is supervised by subspecialists to ensure the highest standard of treatment.
Our hospital also collaborates with departments of otolaryngology, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, pediatric surgery, and urology, enabling timely and coordinated surgical interventions when needed. In addition, our perinatal medical center includes nine neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) and nine growing care units (GCUs), through which we contribute actively to regional perinatal and pediatric care.

Our hospital is a core specialized hospital in the eastern Saitama area that provides advanced healthcare as a tertiary care hospital. We also serve as a local medical center in Koshigaya city, since the city has a large population of children, but few pediatricians. Medical care collaboration is required for local healthcare. Therefore, we work with nearby clinics, including Touto Kasukabe Hospital, Koshigaya Municipal Hospital, Soka Municipal Hospital, and Kasukabe Medical Center for acute diseases; Saitama Prefectural Children’s Medical Center, Kawaguchi Municipal Medical Center, and Saitama Municipal Perinatal Medical Center for neonatal medical care; and Nakagawanosato Remedial Teaching Center and Tokyo Metropolitan Kita Rehabilitation Medical Center for the care of children with disabilities.
As a university-affiliated hospital, we also serve as a center for education and research. Clinical studies are actively conducted across multiple departments, including allergy, neurology, and endocrinology, with results regularly published in both domestic and international journals. Our staff members are dedicated to mentoring and guiding residents and students through these research activities.
Our outpatient departments include specialists in allergy, rheumatism, immunology, neurology, childhood psychiatry, cardiovascular medicine, endocrinology, metabolism, nephrology, neonatology, genetics, gastrointestinal medicine, and hepatology.
Our department is engaged in clinical and translational research across a wide range of pediatric fields, including:
