      The Department of Medical Genome Science is engaged in education and research on the structure, function, and regulation of the genome, which underpins all biological phenomena. We aim to elucidate the mechanisms by which genomic and epigenomic information regulates development, differentiation, and disease, and to explore their clinical applications. We also provide education to medical students and graduate students on the latest developments in genome research and genomic medicine.

Professor Hisato Kobayashi, PhD

     The Department of Medical Genome Science promotes cutting-edge research on epigenomic regulation, with a focus on genomic imprinting and developmental epigenetics. Our research utilizes model organisms and clinical samples to unravel the complexity of gene regulation at the genome-wide level. We also emphasize the development of analytical pipelines for next-generation sequencing and the implementation of translational research in genomic medicine. The department actively fosters collaboration with domestic and international researchers and contributes to the advancement of precision medicine.
