Women’s Health Nursing

Head of the Office: Akemi Isoyama , RN,MW, PhD

Message from the Head of the Department

In the field of maternal nursing, students learn how to support women's health throughout their lives.

Therefore, in addition to nursing care, we provide a wide range of education on maternal and child health issues and developmental challenges. We focus on pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and the neonatal period, as well as healthcare during adolescence and menopause, and hormonal changes in women's life stages.

We also consider how to interact not only with mothers and children but also with their families.

1.       Maternal Nursing
The purpose of this course is to help students understand trends, policies, and ethical issues related to reproductive health and rights, as well as health issues and nursing care during each stage of the female life cycle. Through exercises and group work, students will gain an understanding of various concepts of maternal nursing and learn the role of maternal nursing.

 2.       Practicum Maternal Nursing
In this practicum, students provide care for mothers and children during the maternity cycle and develop the basic skills necessary for nursing practice. Practical training takes place at Dokkyo Medical University Hospital and local childcare support groups.
