Message from the Head of the Principal, Nursing School Affiliated to Dokkyo Medical University

     Our school was founded in 1974 with the aim of training nurses to work in Dokkyo Medical University Hospital.
       The total number of graduates is 4,247, and they are active all over the country, as well as in the 3 hospitals of Dokkyo Medical University (the University hospital, Saitama Medical Center and Nikko Medical Center).
      Our educational philosophy is to "foster nurses who are trusted by the general public, including patients, their families, and medical professionals, in accordance with the founding spirit."  We aim to develop nurses who can practice nursing in response to the diverse situation. To that end, we emphasize education that enables students to acquire knowledge about nursing and medicine, a large number of academic disciplines, and the ability to learn independently.
      We also have lessons in collaboration with faculty members and clinical faculty members of the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Nursing.
      2024 will mark the 50th anniversary of our founding. Embracing the history and traditions of our school and aim to further development them together.

  • Learn through attending highly specialized lectures, exercises, and techniques presented by full-time faculty members, faculty members of the Faculty of Medicine, faculty members of the Faculty of Nursing, and clinical nurses.
  • Acquire clinical nursing practical skills through extensive on-the-job training at special function hospitals and local facilities.

  • Our campus includes the Dokkyo Medical University Hospital, School of Medicine and School of Nursing.

  • We are also focusing on online lessons and ICT education that requires using smart devices.

Point 3
National examination measures boasting a high pass rate

  • From the first year, we start preparing for the national examination. Teachers will carefully guide the students from goal setting to advice concerning learning methods, and also offer mental/emotional support throughout their learning experience.
  • The pass rate exceeds the national average every year.

3-year program

1st year

  • Understanding the basics of the human mind and body
  •  Students will mainly study basic fields and later specialize in those fields.
  •  In addition, by forming relationships, they will be able to acquire ethics and a rich understanding of humanity.

2nd year

  • Improve and further develop the basics of nursing practice
  • Students will study specialized fields such as basic nursing, adult nursing, geriatric nursing, and pediatric nursing.
  • Students will develop the basic skills for evidence-based nursing practice for their subject's health problems.

3rd year

  • Acquire clinical nursing practice ability
  •  Students will conduct hospital training, home training, facility training, etc. in order to acquire clinical practical skills.
  • In addition, they will acquire the basic ability to collaborate as a member responsible for team medical care.
